Meet Your Local Farmers Dinner
On Saturday May 27, Lyttleton Stores was proud to host our first Meet Your Local Farmer Dinner, in collaboration with Blue Mountains Food Co-op. The event was a huge success, thanks to all the lovely supporters who came along and the team effort of both Cooperatives.
Thirty-plus guests were treated to a lavish three course spread made entirely from local produce and creatively prepared in the Lyttleton Stores kitchen by Jacinta Carmichael-Parissi and Nick Grillanc.
Springwood farmers, Jo and Joe Tabone, of Urbavore Blue Mountains, entertained diners with the story of their farming journey, from backyard novice growers to fully fledged market gardeners, and provided much of the fresh veg that was enjoyed on the night.
“Every choice that each of us makes, have a conversation or support something, or even just to say thank you - not to us! - to the community. It’s like that thing of dropping a little pebble in a pond. And you guys know it, if you’re based in the Mountains, or even here tonight, the Mountains are so full of hope and promise, as a community, it just thrives.
“And so everyday, just throw those pebbles in the pond, especially for the new people who are coming on board, and all the people who have gone before us for entire generations and have already done it, because it changes entire lives.”
Jo Tabone
