Volunteering is a fun way to meet people, feel part of the community, learn new skills as well as share the load. Volunteers also receive an extra 10% discount off member prices (20% in total).
WHERE & HOW YOU CAN VOLUNTEER
AT THE STORE
Help with the day-to-day running of the co-op.
Involves:
assisting retail team to set up and pack down the shop, create displays
unpacking fresh produce
filling up bulk bins with dry goods
organising and maintaining spaces
processing and unpacking deliveries with the team
Involves:
sewing seeds, planting seedlings and weeding beds
assisting with garden maintenance
preparing garden and backyard for upcoming events and workshops
helping to reignite one of Lyttleton’s original missions!
Involves:
food rescue! Pickling, preserving and jamming.
following instructions and recipes
supporting the talented kitchen staff
cleaning, tidying and washing up
Involves:
supporting the tutor to ensure a smooth experience for all participants
managing the refreshments table
assisting the tutor to pack down and tidy the community hub
We encourage volunteers to commit to a regular 2 hour weekly shift if you can. This consistency is important as we rely on our volunteers for the daily running of the co-op, helps you get to know staff and understand the ethics of the co-op.
COMMITTEES
Collaborate with other committee members to help drive different co-op initiatives.
Involves:
Planning, prepping, and launching our 2022 crowdfunding campaign
Coming up with “rewards”
Event planning and management
Market and promote campaign
Communicating with funders
Involves:
coming up with new ideas and content for our newsletter, communications and other marketing initiatives
Content creation for our newsletters and communications
Potential contributions: copywriting, photography, graphic design and social media management
