Meet Danielle Sullivan, Owner of Cult Hero Kids Vintage

Who are you and what do you sell?

I am Danielle and I live in misty Katoomba with my small family. I sell a myriad of vintage things but my main focus and passions are kids vintage clothing and 80s & 90s nostalgic toys!

How did Cult Hero Kids Vintage begin?

When I was pregnant with my daughter I started collecting vintage clothes for her. It was a natural progression I suppose from my own vintage obsession . I had originally started wearing vintage clothes when I was 12 and have carried that through until now. Although, I am quite often seen in a band tee and jeans these days...  Anyway I soon had enough kids vintage clothing to qualify for an episode of hoarders and decided to start an Instagram shop to sell a few things. It escalated from there and now I source fun retro threads from all over the world for @cult_hero_kids_vintage.

Tell us about some of your favourite finds.
Any 80s toy find gives me joy! But finding some classic 80s or 90s kids clothes in the wild is truly magical.

What excites you the most about what you do?
The one thing that's a real blast is when a customer buys something that they had as a child. People have sent me old photos of themselves wearing the same item and they get to recreate that with their own child. A childhood memory triggered by a toy or book is a powerful thing too. I live for nostalgia and love seeing others rejoice in it. The great thing about my business being Instagram based is that I get to chat with parents A LOT whether they are customers or other sellers. There is so much support within the online community and it honestly got me through long days as a first time Mother of a young child.

What can we expect to find of yours at the Thread Fair?
We'll be bringing a gorgeous selection of clothes from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s! Plus our collection of unworn 70s deadstock which is just divine. Some wintery things and a table of 80s and 90s toys! Plus our ever popular 90s unworn vintage Richard Scarry caps.

Catch Danielle at our Thread Fair on Sunday 2nd April, 10am-3pm.
